Improving the rail way infrastructure in one of the hardest mountainous regions of Iran by increasing the number of tunnels and bridges and thus the volume of transportation.
The rail transport system has been one of the cheapest and the most economical ways to travel and transport material which is why such a system has an important role in improving the economy of a country. Therefore, the rail projects have been under implementation in our country with one of them being Ardebil – Mianeh railway project. Ardebil – Mianeh railway connects the north western part of Iran and the main railway lines. Executing the plot 3–b of this route, which is located on the hard mountainous area and in the vicinity of the river valley named Alpachay, is undertaken by Kandovan Pars Company. This contract has been entered into agreement in March 2010 with an initial sum of 367 billion Rials.
The starting point of this plot is located on the route at kilometer 339 in the vicinity of Alpachay river and its end point is located at kilometer 352 in the south part of Mashkool village near Ghezel Ozoon. The project route with an approximate length of 14 Kilometers includes the following:
- 2 million square meters of excavation and stone picking
- 750 thousand square meters of embankment
- Constructing 43 tip bridges with the average width of 4 meters and the average length of 100 meters
- Constructing a special bridge with a pre-tensioned deck and with a height of 25 meters and a length of 125 meters in 5 spans
- Constructing 14 tunnels with the general length of 5600 meters which will be excavated in regards of the Austrian method in two sections of TOP and BENCH.
For digging the explosion well in these tunnels Jumbo Drills are being used.
